Ho-way, my Elder Brother,

I came back to revisit your pages. A return trip always gives one confidence to open the eyes a little wider and capture what might have been missed the first time. I would have been proud to call you my teacher and mentor, had I been fortunate enough to have been your student. Your work is a tribute to our Osage heritage and an artistic reflection on a Great Plains culture that has yet to meet it's end. From fathers, to sons and to grandsons, may our art, our language, and our respect for life continue to ride a drumbeat of unity and purpose into our hopeful horizons. May we all remember to care for our Mother, as she sacrifices so much for us, and may we never forget that our lives are but Grandfather Sun's brush strokes upon her surface.

Ho-way, brother Art,

I have only recently discovered my Osage heritage and found your site through cc Nightowl's network. I greatly admire your work and would like to come to Tacoma someday and see your panels. It seems a shame to me that Pacific First Federal chose to break up your mural. My favorite piece on the website has to be the Eagle's claw and pony rider. I would not even try to guess what type of wood you used. It is a masterpiece. I wonder about the symbols to the left of the rider's head and what they mean. The claw is stark and has great strength. You have captured his power. The thought occurred to me that perhaps the tree used to create his likeness, had one day in the past, known his grasp on a branch.

Tha-ho, Wi-ku-tha,

Beautiful carvings! There is always that special touch of something different when Natives do Native art. Have you ever seen any of John Free's stuff? He's another mixed-blood Osage, with a studio outside of Pawhuska, does lots of different stuff, but his Osages are awesome too.

I'm bookmarking your page to see more stuff later. And in the future, when I'm done with residency and I'm making a regular salary....

Great art!
